Karubee’s
Jamaican food in WV! Yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for! Here’s how your visit to Karubee’s Jamaican Restaurant is going to go.
At least how mine went.
You find this gem next to the Dunbar bridge. You accidentally walk into Maria’s Grill on since they’re in the same building… Walk back outside and go in the other side of the building. Once inside, this beautiful woman named Bina (owner’s fiance, be careful) greets you and talks to you like you’re family.
From there, they explain that it’s true Jamaican food and that it’s spicy, which I love. You get your food and realize that they weren’t joking. Spicy, but so so good. You devour all of your food with two waters and you bookmark this place so that you can visit every month.
My favorite was the Collard Greens and Rice and Beans. I don’t even like rice and yet Kerry’s (owner) recipe makes me want to eat it every night. Kerry being born in Jamaica and eventually moving to West Virginia is a blessing to the palette of anybody living close to Dunbar, WV.
